My Interview with Chris Dunlap, Day Trading & Web 3.0 Expert

In today's episode, I have a very special guest to share with you. Chris Dunlap is a seasoned investor, with over 15 years of experience navigating financial markets. He co-owns a business dedicated to promoting financial literacy, just like Fierce Feminine Finance, so we're like business besties from another mother ;-) But his firm, Nu Wall Street, specializes in educating individuals on investing strategies and leveraging emerging asset classes, such as those found in the Web3 ecosystem, for financial enrichment.

Sarah: Thank you so much for coming on the show today.

Chris: Thank you for having me. Super excited to have this conversation. I follow your content. I'm a fan! So when I got the outreach, I was pretty, pretty stoked about it.

Sarah: I was just glad you said yes! haha. So share a little bit of your story. You mentioned 15 years... that's a long time to be in the financial industry! We'd love to hear more about that.

Chris: I'm a little seasoned here! haha

Um, so my journey in finance and investing started in college. I was in a master's program and we just started talking about the stock market and investing as a finance class.

I almost went finance, but I just decided on general MBA.

But anyway, they started talking about stocks. I hadn't really heard much about investing before, right?

I was an Inner city kid. Didn't know much about that.

I didn't have that type of conversation in my circle of influence.

Uh, but at that time it was around when the auto industry was crashing and going through what they were going through.

And so I remember asking the professor, I said, "Hey, Ford was at $11 before this happened. We're in like 80 cents now. Would this be a good time to buy a stock like that?"

And he responded, "Absolutely not. The auto industry is done with, I wouldn't touch it with a 10 foot pole."

So again, I didn't know any better, so I didn't touch it. I didn't do anything or take any action.

Well, fast forward to like, I think August or September of that same year...And then we get the auto bailout package that came out in a year or so later for Ford back to $11.

So when I saw that, I was just like, man, I missed out on an 8-10x return here!

And so I just made the decision at that point to never have to depend on someone else's knowledge to make decisions for me.
